Why K&O doesn't take institutional money.

Most organizations claiming to serve low-income communities are funded by foundations whose capital was built by the same industries those communities are fighting. K&O is funded by the community itself — the only way to stay honest about whose interests are actually being served.

No strings on the mission
Institutional donors come with agendas. When you fund the mission, you fund the truth — not a version comfortable for a donor board.
Every dollar tracked publicly
Where your money goes is published — not buried in an annual report. Itemized and public, because that is the standard K&O holds everyone else to.
Pay what you can — genuinely
The dishwasher pays two dollars. The engineer who just got laid off pays twenty. Both are equal members of this community. The amount is not the measure.
Fight fund goes directly to builders
A portion of every contribution goes to founders building alternatives to broken systems. Specific names. Specific outcomes. Published.
